PRIVACY
Lethometry is a research archive. It has no accounts, no comments, and no advertising. Here is exactly what is collected when you read it.
WHAT IS COLLECTED
One thing: anonymous visit counts, so the archive knows which pages are read and which are ignored.
| Data | Why | Who receives it |
|---|---|---|
| Page URL, referrer, and approximate region | To count visits and find pages that need work | Google Analytics 4 |
| Device and browser type | To know whether the archive should be reworked for a specific device | Google Analytics 4 |
| IP address | Truncated and anonymised before it is recorded | Not retained |
Nothing else. There is no account system, no profile, no advertising identifier, no cross-site tracking, and no third-party tracker of any kind. No data is sold, rented, or shared with advertisers.
COOKIES
Google Analytics 4 sets a first-party cookie named _ga in your browser. It is used only to distinguish one visit from the next and to avoid counting the same page view twice. There is no advertising cookie, and no cookie is shared with any other site.
OPTING OUT
You can decline analytics entirely and read every article. Lethometry works identically for you either way — nothing is gated, no content is hidden, and no feature is withheld.
To opt out, use the Google Analytics browser extension for your browser, or install a content blocker such as uBlock Origin. Both stop the analytics request before it leaves your device. Every article remains fully readable either way.
HOSTING AND LOGS
The site is served as static files through Vercel. The hosting provider keeps short-lived request logs for security and abuse prevention. Those logs are not combined with the analytics described above and are not used for profiling.
